Mark Wires With Connected Devices Data
There are a lot of great new enhancements to SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2017, but for me one stands out as a must have. It’s common practice for Electrical Designers to number wires using the terminal identifier of the device that the wire is connected to. Using this practice, it’s easy to identify the signal, or I/O that a specific wire is connected to, potentially simplifying the troubleshooting process. SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2017 has a new tool that allows you to do this. It’s called Propagate Data To Connected Objects and it’s part of the automatic wire numbering system. In the following video, we’ll use this tool to number wires based on the terminal identifiers and I/O mnemonics from a PLC. Take a look.
Propagate Data To Connected Objects gives you extra flexibility while designing your automated wire numbering schemes and automates a process that was previously a manual task. This is just one of the latest enhancements to SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2017. If you’d like to learn more, join us on October 24th when we’ll discuss and demonstrate many of the other enhancements that SOLIDWORKS Electrical has to offer.
