As we expected, SolidWorks World 2013 had some big announcements. From new offerings to updates, here are some things you can look forward to seeing in the very near future.
To start, Dassault Systèmes announced the launch of the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, connecting designers, engineers, marketing managers and even consumers, in a new social enterprise. President and CEO of Dassault Systèmes, Bernard Charles, described the 3DEXPERIENCE Platforms purpose best when he said, “We must provide businesses and people with holistic 3D experiences to imagine sustainable innovations capable of harmonizing products, nature and life.” Within this platform, you can take advantage of Social and Collaborative Apps, Information Intelligence Apps, Content and Simulation Apps, and 3D Modeling Apps.
Along with the announcement of the 3DEXPERIENCE, SolidWorks showcased My.SolidWorks.Com, your personalized view of the dynamic SolidWorks Community. It allows you to connect, discover and share everything SolidWorks in one seamless experience. Users can tailor the content to their specific interests based on their account settings. From scanning the latest posts, to discovering new tools, techniques and apps, My.SolidWorks.Com allows users to find exactly what they want from all corners of the SolidWorks community.
As if those two announcements weren’t big enough, Fielder Hiss, Vice President, Product Management at Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks announced SolidWorks’ latest product: Mechanical Conceptual. Combining parametric modeling and direct editing in a single interface, Mechanical Conceptual will allow users to conceptualize and capture ideas digitally, rather than doodling on a napkin. With its social innovation, Mechanical Conceptual will enable collaboration with stakeholders, as well as post in private communities, allowing for better customer engagement. Currently SolidWorks is looking for users to try Mechanical Conceptual in production, and we can anticipate the product being available for the public come Fall of this year. We will be sure to post updates on this new product as they come in.
