A bunch of us here at CAPINC attended the SolidWorks 2012 rollout event for the East area at Mohegan Sun in CT on Wednesday. First let me just say, “Wow!” Mohegan Sun has some amazing architecture. I kept staring up at the ceilings when we were walking around.

Many of you will be joining us for our Explicit SolidWorks User Conference in October where we’ll cover these improvements in detail, but I wanted to provide a sneak peek at some of the great enhancements in the 20th release of SolidWorks! Key themes of the 2012 release include:
- Automation of Design functions you Use Most Often
- Improvements in Performance and Quality for a More Continuous Workflow
- Fundamental Changes to your Product Development Process
- Extensive Support for Project Collaboration and Team Connectivity
Costing!
- Automatic manufacturing cost estimates – looks directly at the geometry of your model, rather than the features.
